Mediation

Mediation is a cost effective, civilized method to get divorced, especially matters involving children.  In mediation, both parties maintain control over the process, rather than lawyers (who may escalate the situation to increase their fees, or simply because they are contentious).  You and your spouse jointly decide all issues, rather than a judge, who doesn't fully understand the personal nuances of your situation.  For instance, in mediaton, parties jointly decide who gets to see the children, including when and where; who gets to live in, or keep the house; as well as all other personal issues.

Mediation is confidential.  The intimate details of your personal life, including financial data don't get aired in court or become a matter of public record.  That prevents later viewing by, for instance, present or future employers, family members, neighbors, or anyone else who may want to pry.

Mediation avoids stress and heartache associated with litigation.  It takes much less time to complete a case.  Perhaps most importantly, mediation saves thousands in legal fees, compared to litigation or collaborative law.

After reaching agreements on all issues, we can help draft your settlement agreement, as well as all required court forms.  We can even help with filing the paperwork with the court.  Parties that mediate from start to finish never have to step inside a courtroom or go to the courthouse.

Our office has helped hundreds of couples find solutions and reach agreements, allowing them to move past the divorce as quickly as possible.  Mediation avoids the fallout associated with a prolonged legal fight that leaves the parties (including any children) emotionally scarred and bank accounts drained.
